The data centre
at1 is a hall in a carrier-neutral data centre in Floridsdorf, on the north bank of the Danube. Its power comes from the hydro plants on the Danube and wind farms in Lower Austria, under long-term contracts. Two grid feeds reach the hall, with batteries and generators behind them.
Outside air cools the hall from autumn to spring, and chillers run through the warmer weeks of summer.
Two upstream carriers reach the building on separate fibre routes, and the region peers at VIX, the Vienna Internet Exchange. Traffic to Austrian networks stays in the country.
The region suits services for Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia. Milan is 9 ms away, which makes the two a natural pair for a primary and a replica. It also puts the GPU servers in Milan a short hop from an app here.
