The data centre
ee1 is a hall in a carrier-neutral data centre in the Ülemiste district, beside Tallinn’s airport. Its power comes from Estonian onshore wind farms under long-term contracts. Two separate feeds reach the hall, with batteries and diesel generators behind them.
The air outside is cool for most of the year, so the hall draws it in directly. Chillers run only on the warmest days of summer.
Two upstream carriers reach the building on separate fibre routes, one along the coast and one inland. The region peers at TLLIX, the Tallinn internet exchange, so traffic to Estonian networks stays in the country. Submarine cables cross the Gulf of Finland to Helsinki.
The region suits services for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and for Finland across the Gulf. Riga is 5 ms away and Copenhagen 15 ms, which gives a replica two near places to stand.
