Volumes in three copies, from 10 GB to 10 TB.

A volume is a block device on NVMe, kept in three copies on separate hosts. Attach it to any server in its region, and keep it when the server is deleted.

From €0.05 per GB a month

Features

Block storage sized by the GB.

  • 10 GB to 10 TB

    Choose any size in whole GB. Grow a volume while it is attached and mounted, then grow the filesystem on it.

  • Three copies

    Every block is written to three hosts before the write returns, so a failed disk or host loses nothing.

  • Move between servers

    Detach a volume and attach it to another server in the same region. Each volume serves one server at a time.

  • Encrypted at rest

    Every volume is encrypted with AES-256 on the storage hosts, under a key of its own.

  • Snapshots by the GB

    Take a snapshot of a volume at any time and create volumes from it. Copy it to another region to move the data.

  • Formatted for you

    Ask for ext4 or XFS and the volume arrives formatted and mounted. Or leave it raw for LVM, ZFS or a database.

Pricing

Priced by the GB you allocate.

A volume costs by the GB you choose, used or not, up to its monthly price. A snapshot costs by the GB it holds.

Code

Attach one in a command.

lc volume creates the volume, attaches it to the server, formats it and mounts it.

  • Any size from 10 GB to 10 TB.
  • ext4 or XFS, or a raw block device.
  • Mounted at a path you choose, and kept in /etc/fstab.
shell
$ lc volume create data-1 --size 200 --server web-1 \
    --format xfs --mount /srv/data
Creating data-1 in ee1 ... attached to web-1
$ lc volume resize data-1 --size 500
Resizing data-1 ... 500 GB
$ ssh root@203.0.113.24 xfs_growfs /srv/data

Questions

Questions about volumes.

FAQ
Can I shrink a volume?
No. A volume can grow while mounted, but it cannot shrink. To use less space, create a smaller volume, copy the data across and delete the larger one.
Does a detached volume cost anything?
Yes. A volume is billed by its size from creation to deletion, attached or not. Take a snapshot and delete the volume to pay only for the GB it holds.
Can I attach a volume in another region?
No. A volume attaches to servers in its own region. Copy a snapshot of it to the other region, and create a volume there from the copy.

Start with one server and one command.

Choose a region and a plan, and add an SSH key. The server answers SSH 38 seconds after the command, at the price on its spec sheet.
