NFS shares that many servers mount at once.

A share is an NFS v4.1 filesystem on your private network. Mount it on any number of servers and Kubernetes pods, and grow it while they write to it.

From €0.12 per GB a month

Features

A shared filesystem, run for you.

  • NFS v4.1

Mount a share with the NFS client in the Linux kernel. File locking and sessions work as the protocol defines them.

  • Many writers at once

Any number of servers and pods read and write the same files, for uploads, build caches and shared home directories.

  • From 100 GB, grown in place

Grow a share in steps of 10 GB while it is mounted. Throughput is 200 MB/s for each TB, from 100 MB/s up to 2 GB/s.

  • Private by design

A share has an address on your private network and no public one. An access list limits it to the subnets you name.

  • ReadWriteMany in Kubernetes

The CSI driver turns a ReadWriteMany claim into a share, so pods on every node mount the same volume.

  • Snapshots of a share

Take a snapshot at any time and browse it read-only under .snapshot. Snapshots take space within the share’s size.

Pricing

Priced by the share’s size.

A share costs by its size in GB, however many servers and pods mount it.

Code

Mount it like any NFS export.

Create a share on a private network with lc, then mount it from each server with the kernel’s NFS client.

  • An address on your private network, and no public one.
  • Access limited to the subnets you list.
  • Hard mounts that pause through a failover of up to 10 seconds.

$ lc files create media --size 500 --region pt1 \

Questions

Questions about file storage.

FAQ
File storage or a volume?
A volume is a block device for one server, with lower latency, which suits a database. A share is a filesystem that many servers mount at once, for files they all need.
What happens if a file server fails?
Each share is served by a pair of hosts over storage kept in three copies. If the active host stops, the other takes over its address within 10 seconds. Clients with hard mounts pause for those seconds, then carry on.
Can I reach a share from another region?
Yes, over the private network, which spans every region. A share in Lisbon is 29 ms from Milan, so mount a share from its own region where you can.

Start with one server and one command.

Choose a region and a plan, and add an SSH key. The server answers SSH 38 seconds after the command, at the price on its spec sheet.
