Daily backups, and snapshots whenever you take them.

Backups run every day in a window you choose and keep the last seven. Snapshots are taken when you ask, and kept until you delete them.

From €0.02 per GB a month

Features

Two kinds of copy, for two jobs.

  • Daily backups

Turn on backups and the server’s disk is copied every day, in a window you choose. The last seven copies are kept, and the oldest drops each day.

  • Snapshots on demand

Take a snapshot of a server or a volume before an upgrade or a migration. A snapshot stays in the project until you delete it.

  • Restore or clone

Roll a server back to a backup or a snapshot, or create another server from it and compare the two.

  • Consistent copies

Each copy is taken from a point-in-time view of the disk. With the guest agent installed, filesystems are frozen first.

  • Copy to another region

Copy a snapshot to any region to move a server there, or to keep one copy apart from the original.

  • Export as an image

Download any snapshot as a qcow2 or raw image, and boot it on any KVM host, here or elsewhere.

Pricing

Snapshots by the GB they hold.

A snapshot costs by the data it holds, not by the size of the disk. Empty blocks are neither stored nor counted.

Code

Snapshot before you change things.

Turn on backups once, and take a snapshot with lc before each upgrade. A backup or a snapshot restores with one command.

  • A backup window that suits your traffic.
  • Snapshots named for the change they guard.
  • Restore in place, or to another server.
shell
$ lc server backup enable web-1 --window 02:00-04:00
Backups on for web-1, daily between 02:00 and 04:00 UTC
$ lc server snapshot web-1 --name before-php-8.4
Snapshot before-php-8.4 of web-1 ... done
$ lc server rebuild web-1 --from-snapshot before-php-8.4
Restoring web-1 from before-php-8.4 ... running

Questions

Questions about backups and snapshots.

FAQ
How does a backup differ from a snapshot?
A backup is taken every day on its own, and the oldest of seven is dropped each day. A snapshot is taken when you ask and stays until you delete it. Backups cost 20% of the server’s price, and snapshots cost by the GB.
What happens to backups when I delete a server?
They are deleted with the server, all seven of them. To keep a copy, take a snapshot first, or turn a backup into a snapshot, which outlives the server.
Are databases backed up the same way?
Managed PostgreSQL and MySQL include their own daily backups and point-in-time recovery in the plan price. For a database on a server, take a dump first, or install the guest agent.

Start with one server and one command.

Choose a region and a plan, and add an SSH key. The server answers SSH 38 seconds after the command, at the price on its spec sheet.

logi-ciel is a design concept

This site is a portfolio piece by Soheyb. The brand, the pages and the price list are real design work; the cloud behind them is not. There’s no console to sign in to, and no server to rent.
